CDC United 97 faced some tough competition in the New Jersey State Futsal Championships which took place January 30th, 2010. A group of sixteen of the best futsal teams in the region resulted in an exciting and challenging day for the U12 team.
Monday, January 18, 2010 at 7:52PM The CDC United 98 team had an impressive showing at the 2010 NJ State Futsal Championships. After winning their bracket undefeated, they faced off against the very strong Rat Pack from Lower Merion. The game ended in a 2-2 draw, but the CDC 98’s prevailed in penalty kicks to advance to the Semis. Due to the pre-determined tournament schedule, they had no time to rest and immediately went up against the always impressive Den of Lions Inter in a semi final match. The boys were exhausted after the tough quarterfinal, and unfortunately conceded a goal seconds into the game followed up by another just minutes later. Realizing they were going to remain under a lot of pressure, CDC stepped up and started hammering back hard, and a great futsal battle ensued. They fought back to a 3-3 game late in the 2nd half, and looked like they took the lead but their 4th goal was called back after the ref didn’t see the keeper contact the ball after a sideline kick-in found the back of the net. The Den of Lions however were relentless and scored two late goals resulting in a 3-5 finish knocking CDC out of the final round. We would like to also congratulate Den Of Lions who crushed their opponents in the final with a 5-0 victory to win the title. The 98’s look forward to meeting up with them at Regionals.
