CDC United 97 (U12) faced teams from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania at the New Jersey State Futsal Championship which took place January 30th, 2010. Sixteen futsal teams participated in the tournament, including LMSU Force (PA), Falcao (NJ), Asphalt Green (NYC), Stronghold SC Spartans (NJ), Total Soccer Futsal Academy (NJ) and Den of Lions (NJ). The tournament was divided into 4 brackets with 4 teams in each bracket. CDC United 97 finished first in their bracket, beating WWPSA Barcelona (12:0), LMSU Force (5:4), and Asphalt Green B team (8:1).
In the semi-final CDC United 97 faced Falcao, who finished first in their bracket after eliminating Asphalt Green A team. The game quickly developed into a true classic, proving to be the best match of the tournament. In an exciting, physical and very challenging game, both teams showed great skills, discipline and resilience. Falcao scored first but CDC United 97 responded with two goals, the second of which was spectacular and probably the best goal of the tournament. Both teams scored again to bring the score to 3:2 but Falcao equalized the game with three minutes left. Using their rich experience gained at many other futsal tournaments, our U12’s stepped up their game, applied constant pressure on their opponents, and with 60 seconds left, they scored the winning goal to advanced to the final.
The semi-final’s incredible momentum carried over into the final. CDC United 97 came out fast and determined against the Stronghold SC Spartans and within a few minutes they scored five goals and secured the game. The final result was 8:0 rewarding CDC United 97 with their first trophy. CDC United 97 are the only unbeaten team in the tournament, winning five straight games, scoring 37 goals and conceding 8.
Congratulations to the 97’s, the 2010 New Jersey State Futsal Champions.
