99's bring home 2'nd Futsal Championship

The CDC United 99 repeated the clubs recent success in the 2010 New Jersey State Futsal Championships. This years U10 tournament hosted teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York and MAPS once again provided a great venue and exceptionally smoothly run event.

The 99’s finished their bracket as the only undefeated team in either group, scoring 18 goals while only letting 2 slip in. Their first game against Total Soccer Futsal Academy from Pennsylvania started tough with both teams showing promise, but when CDC put two quick goals in a row, Total Soccer seemed to lose their steam and surrendered to an onslaught of goals by CDC resulting in a 9-0 finish. Similarly, the semi-final game started off close against New Jersey’s DTS, but the U10’s kept their focus and worked together to rack up an 11-2 win.

CDC was reunited with Total Soccer Futsal Academy in the final, and this time Total Soccer had revenge on its mind. TSFA came out hard and reached the back of the net in the first few minutes giving them the go ahead goal and the confidence to keep CDC on its heels for much of the first half. Total Soccer changed strategy for the game and implemented a full defensive formation trying to keep CDC from making any significant penetration. Eventually, CDC’s determination picked apart the 4 man defense and they started scoring goals earning them a victory with a much tighter score of 6-2.

The boys were thrilling to watch scoring an impressive 35 goals in 4 games while giving up a paltry 6 goals (mostly from free kicks.) Cristo del Consuelo Soccer Academy would like to congratulate Noah, Atom, Steven, Danny, Giancarlo, Max, Toby and Coach Jasmini Santillan on their victory!
